PROJECT CONTROL MANAGEMENT AND SUCCESSFUL PROJECT

Project Control Management, its very important when we are executing or running a project.

Project Control Management comes under the Control and Monitoring Phase in the Project Life Cycle. Why I call it very important, every project need to be monitored and controlled. Without this process we are not able to see the trend of the project.

Any project will have Project Control Management representative who will monitor the flow or the pattern of the project. A Project Control Manager will be the head of the Project Control Team, who will report to Project Manager on the status a project.

What is the benefit of having the Project Control Management system is in place?
Certainly Project Control Management gives the statistical and graphic information for the decision making of the higher management also the corporate level.
A s-curve (will talk on s-curve more detail on next few post, stay tune) or even productivity curve will help to identify the Project trends.

Control is a tool of the project phase too. Project Control Management comprise of the planning and cost control also involved the document control management and interface management. All this entity works hand in hand to the success of any project.

Congratulation for the project success of the good project control management.

Project Management - Cost, Time and Quality (Leave Comments)

Cost, Time and Quality

Why did I call my Blog Successful Project Management.

Well when we talks about Project, surely this triangle is not missed. Cost, Time and Quality.

Any Business Owner or Investor wanted to save their cost when come to project execution, not only that it should be delivered on time without compromising Quality.

This is big challenged faced by the main contractor and the subcontractor. Many of them do not or simply ignore Project Management. I will call them to participate and implement Project Management to help them improve their Product Quality, save cost and deliver it on given or agreed schedule.

With the global economy need to recover. I strongly urge a very depth study conducted in the Project Management and implement every project or task with Project Management Principle, which could help all of us to succeed.

Ten Reasons Why Systems Projects Fail

  • There is a lack of project strategy. Without an overall plan, many of the projects submitted and approved may provide only marginal benefits. Major projects involving the underlying technology and architecture infrastructure are ignored or viewed as impossible because no one business unit supports them.
  • Project goals are not understood or agreed on. There is sometimes a lack of understanding and agreement about the goals of a project. Business, technical and organizational objectives might overlap and conflict.
  • Small projects are not allowed to be projects. Because of the fear of administrative overhead and the desire for results, management allows small projects to exist without the controls and direction associated with project management. As the scope of the project grows, the stage is set for collapse because no organized structure is in place. This occurs in business units that attempt to carry out projects informally.
  • Projects are not closely linked to the business process. Projects are carried out with the attention on the technical side of the puzzle. The business process side is too often ignored. No tasks are related to reengineering. This can also be a problem with too narrow a scope.
  • The scope of the project is not defined. The scope of the projects is not well defined until substantial work has been done. Additional requirements that surface then enlarge the scope.
  • The purpose of the project does not match the scope. The goals of a project can be ambitious as reflected in the estimated benefits. Yet the scope of the project is too narrow, making it impossible to reach the goal.
  • There is a lack of review of project ideas and plans. No thorough and formal approach to reviewing a project idea or plan may exist. Often, the project is only reviewed by itself in a vacuum.
  • The project team is weak. The project team is weak or lacks technical knowledge and experience. No provision is in place for assigning senior people to the project.
  • Project resources are robbed to handle emergencies. The problem with systems projects is that the only apparent downside is a delay in the project. Because benefits are not clearly defined and the business unit is getting along without the systems or technology, there does not seem to be much harm. Don’t kid yourself. There is. The people left on the project may work slower and may feel that they are working on a low-priority effort.
  • Few or no lessons are learned. With no formal or organized process to learn from the projects and a lack of incentives and management support, it is not surprising that few devote any time to gathering, organizing and disseminating lessons learned.
